Tagboek and Tim Holtz apron

Today I'm gonna tell you about a very special project. A VIP-project so to speak. It's gonna be a long story, so grab a cup of coffee and come sit with me!
A little while ago there was this post on the All Things Tim Yahoo group from Pam. She lives in California and she was so lucky to receive the orginal Tim Holtz Apron. Lucky her! But she decided she did not need the apron because she has another one already. Therefor Pam posted and asked if anyone would like to receive the apron and give her something in return for it. I replied, together with four other ladies, and the random generator picked me!

After some consulting with Pam to find out what she would like to receive she decided on "tell me something about yourself and the country you live in". Oh dear! A very generous lady, all the way over in sunny California, who wants to know about me? "What is so special about me", I panicked! Until I really tought about it and realized there is lots of little things to tell. As you can see in the picture above I settled on a tagbook, consisting of six tags. Each tag is based on techniques of the Tim Holtz' tags

On the back I wrote all kinds of funny facts about the subject of that tag. Some with more little pictures, some just text. I'll show you each one and explain which technique was used.
Tag 1: alcohol inkt achterground natuurlijk.

Tag 1: alcohol ink background, obviously. Weapon shield of Delfzijl glued behind a fragment and used as a kind of postage. The house on the picture is my house, offcourse!

Tag 2: Inkblending with Victorian Velvet, Dried Marigold. And I used the water droplets to bleach little spots on the background. Two text-stamps are used: "Friends" and "Family" on background and on the white flowers. Behind the filmstrip are little photo's of my friends and family. The big photo shows my daughter Anne and my father.

Tag 3: Masking and spraying with selfmade glimmer mist in a minimister (recipe: one dropper full of cranberry, one scoop of Perfect Pearls, water: shake well). I blended Distress ink Barn Door Red after removing the mask. Picture of my workspace. I believe I posted that one earlier on my blog. ART-letters are white rub-ons.

Tag 4: I used Pearl paint dabber as a resist. After that I blended different colors blue DI and used water droplets. This is a windmill called "Adam", ain't that a cute name? Flourish stamp with Aged Mahoganey.
Tag 5: Natuurlijk: klompen!

Tag 5: Off course, wooden shoes! You were probably wondering when they would come into this story! I cut them out of rubber and colored with DI. (I drew them by hand on the rubber according to an example) Background consists of all kinds of orange DI blended together. I just made it a bit more grungy with some random stamps with Dried Marigold. Added Adage ticket BLISS because wooden shoes can be very comfortable ... when your feet get used to them!

Tag 6: And last but not least: the Tulip. Know as a dutch symbol because of the lavish tulipfields at the "Keukenhof". Paperpieced the tulips.

Off course I had to bind them together with a little keyring with wooden shoes. The colors of the ribbons represent the colors of the dutch flag: red, white and blue.
Pam already received the tagbook and she was delighted! She even showed it to a co-worker! She sent me an e-mail to thank me and her words were so kind and personal. Pam, thank you so much for the wonderful apron and your priceless reaction!

even the littlest comment is greatly appreciated!

That little tag book is such a treasure and a lovely insight to your art and your country, so far from USA!
Great to get that special apron but there's a lot more heart gone into your return gift.
